SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE CEO
Purpose.com, a ground-breaking social enterprise that builds social movements to address major global challenges, is seeking a Special Assistant to CEO Jeremy Heimans. The Special Assistant will be a key aide and work directly with the CEO to support his core activities, which include setting Purpose�s strategic direction, overseeing major projects and initiatives, developing new partnerships and projects, external relations and public engagements. The Special Assistant will attend meetings with, and in some cases as a representative of, the CEO, help coordinate his portfolio of activities and set priorities, manage key aspects of his internal and external communications, and act as a liaison with staff and partners. The role requires substantive engagement with the full breadth of Purpose�s work and is well-suited to someone interested in building experience and relationships in the social and movement entrepreneurship space.
The Special Assistant will:
Work with the CEO, in coordination with the Executive Assistant and the Vice-President of Operations and Finance, to set and mange complex and rapidly changing daily, weekly and longer-term strategic priorities
Monitor and manage CEO�s correspondence and other key communications, including drafting, editing and proof-reading emails, articles, op-eds, proposals and speeches, where required.
Gather information, coordinate with staff, do necessary research and prepare agendas for key internal and external
Accompany CEO to key internal and external meetings, preparing follow-up documents and coordinating with staff and partners to ensure relevant actions are taken
Assist in the management of Special Initiatives on behalf of the CEO
Provide daily assistance with research questions and presentations
The right person for this role will be:
Deeply committed to our mission of building movements to help solve the world�s biggest challenges, with a demonstrated professional or academic interest in online organizing, social enterprise, global politics or other areas relevant to our mission
An outstanding communicator who can strike a polished but not overly formal professional tone in writing and in person
Super organized and productive, adept at balancing multiple rapidly-shifting workstreams, and excited to roll up your sleeves in a fast-paced environment
Able to build effective rapport, trust and credibility with your colleagues as well as senior, C-level stakeholders
Good at reading interpersonal dynamics and capable of effective diplomacy when needed
Able to work independently and with minimal supervision
Highly Proficient in presentation software (Keynote or Powerpoint) and deck-making
A minimum of 2 years professional work experience and a strong academic background is required.
LOCATION This position is based in Manhattan at Purpose HQ in Soho, and may involve some travel with the CEO.
